0.1L stainless steel tanks as gas sources in laboratories

Time: 2025-11-25

In laboratory environment,0.1L gas tank can supply high-purity and high-pressure air source, and due to the small and flexible characters, it perfectly slolves the problems of large high-pressure air storage tanks (bulky and fixed) and simple gas bags (low pressure and easily permeable).

The main applications of 0.1L stainless steel gas tanks in laboratories are as following:

1. Providing auxiliary or carrier gas for small analytical instruments.

This is the most common application. Many precision instruments require stable, pure, low-flow-rate gases. A 100ml stainless steel gas tank offers the advantages of flexibility, portability, and high purity, making it suitable for method development, backup, and field analysis.

    • Gas chromatograph (GC): GC requires high-purity carrier gases (such as hydrogen, helium, and nitrogen) to carry the sample through the chromatographic column. A 100ml gas tank is ideal for this purpose.
      • Method development and debugging: When establishing new detection methods, no need large air storge tanks. Small gas tanks can be used to quickly test the effect of different gases or flow rates on the separation effect, which saves costs and is flexible.
      • Emergency backup: When the main gas tank is used up, the 0.1 air tanks can serve as a temporary gas source to ensure no interrupt of critical experiments, especially after get off work or on holidays.
      • On-site/Mobile GC Analysis: Integrating the entire GC system and small gas tanks into a mobile platform for on-site environmental monitoring, rapid food safety testing, etc.
    • Lasers: Some types of lasers (such as dye lasers) require specific auxiliary gases (such as nitrogen) for cooling or as part of the laser medium. A 0.1L air tank can provide a stable gas source for small experimental lasers.

2.Environmental control and protection of chemical reactions

Many chemical reactions are highly sensitive to atmosphere, and a 0.1L gas tank can easily create a small inert or reactive atmosphere. The dosage is precisely controllable, and the pressure is stable, making it especially suitable for micro-scale or screening experiments, avoiding the potential safety risks brought by using large gas tanks.

3. Calibration and Testing

Laboratory instruments and sensors require regular calibration to ensure data accuracy. A 100ml stainless steel air tank is portable, provides stable pressure, and facilitates on-site calibration. For small reactors, valves, pipelines, or homemade experimental devices, connect the 0.1L air tank to the system, pressurize and observe whether the pressure gauge drops to determine if any leakage.

4. Blowing and cleaning

In the laboratory, cleanliness and no contamination is crucial. Compared to compressed air, high-purity nitrogen is cleaner, oil-free, and water-free, and will not introduce new contaminants. Use 0.1L stainless steel tanks with high-purity nitrogen to blow precision equipments and components, to remove residuals and prevent cross-contamination,moisture or oxidizing.

The 0.1L stainless steel gas storage tank is a very practical and multifunctional tool in the laboratory. It makes the use of high-pressure gas smaller, more modular, and more precise, greatly improving the flexibility and efficiency of scientific research.
