Installation Precautions for Air Storage Tanks

Time: 2025-12-30

Proper installation of a gas storage tank is crucial to ensure safe and efficient operation. There are several important factors to consider before, during, and after the installation process. Below are the key installation precautions to keep in mind:

1.Environmental Temperature

The environmental temperature at the installation site should fall within the operating temperature range of the air storage tank. If the temperature exceeds this range, appropriate measures such as insulation or moving the tank indoors with temperature regulation should be implemented to prevent damage to the equipment and ensure its optimal performance.

2. Adhere to Specified Parameters

It is essential to use the air storage tank within the specified parameter range outlined in the technical drawings. This includes parameters such as pressure, temperature, and medium type. Operating outside these parameters can lead to equipment failure and safety hazards.

3. Avoid Collision and Knocking

During pressurized operation, collision and knocking of the gas storage tank should be strictly avoided. Additionally, disassembly and assembly under pressure are not allowed. If disassembly is necessary, ensure that the equipment is stopped and the pressure is reduced to zero before conducting any work. This is critical to maintaining safety during maintenance activities.

4. Safety Valves and Pressure Gauges

Safety valves and pressure gauges must be regularly calibrated and maintained in accordance with national metrology regulations. This ensures accurate pressure readings and prevents unsafe pressure levels. Regular maintenance of sewage valves is also essential, and they should be discharged periodically to avoid clogging and ensure smooth operation.

5. Simple Pressure Vessels

For users of simple pressure vessels, registration for use and regular inspections are not required, provided they follow the company’s maintenance schedule. This simplifies the process but emphasizes the importance of routine maintenance to ensure continued safe operation.

6. Corrosion Considerations

Since the gas storage tank uses water and compressed air as working mediums, carbon steel tanks may experience slight corrosion over time due to environmental factors. The corrosion rate for carbon steel tanks is typically less than 0.05mm per year, with a recommended service life of approximately seven years. Stainless steel tanks, on the other hand, are not affected by corrosion in clean gas and liquid states, also having a recommended service life of seven years.

7. Valves and Safety Valves

No valves should be installed between the safety valve and the storage tank. This ensures the safety valve can function properly during overpressure situations without any obstructions or restrictions.

8. Pressure Relief Device

If the maximum intake flow exceeds the safe release capacity of the gas storage tank, users should install a pressure relief device within their system. This is a critical safety measure to prevent over-pressurization and potential damage to the equipment.

9. Connection to Gas Source

Hard pipes should be used to connect the gas storage tank to the gas source. Buffer bends must be added to prevent pressure surges. If the user has high cleanliness requirements for the gas source, installing a gas source filter can effectively improve the purity of the gas entering the storage tank.

10. Welding Slag and Maintenance

Due to the welding process used in manufacturing, it is normal for some welding slag to remain inside the tank. This does not affect the normal operation of the tank. However, the bottom drain valve of the gas storage tank should be opened regularly to drain accumulated water and prevent rusting inside the tank. Regular maintenance of the tank is crucial for preserving its integrity and extending its service life.

Conclusion

Proper installation and maintenance of gas storage tanks are vital for ensuring their long-term, safe, and efficient operation. By following the above precautions, you can prevent potential issues, enhance the tank’s performance, and ensure safety during its use. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines and local regulations for further details on installation procedures.
