German industrial air tank manufacturers

Time: 2025-10-13

For storage tanks and pressure vessels that store non-corrosive, chemically stable media such as air, nitrogen, and water, German air tank manufacturers have a high reputation worldwide and play a leading role with their excellent technology, safety standards, and reliability.

After World War II, during the German economic miracle (Wirtschaftswunder), industrial production capacity recovered rapidly. Small air tanks were mainly used to store and supply industrial gases such as oxygen and nitrogen, for metal processing (welding, cutting), chemicals and laboratories. The workshops with large air consumption, began to use horizontal or vertical air tanks. These tanks were usually made of carbon steel. The air tank design and manufacturing strictly followed the German/EU Pressure Equipment Directive. At that time, the air tank manufacturers were essentially professional pressure vessel factories, and their core competitiveness was metal materials, welding processes and pressure vessel design.

Now, automatic production lines place higher demands on a stable, pure, and continuous gas supply. To avoid corrosion and ensure gas purity, stainless steel is becoming widely used in the manufacture of storage tanks and liners. Air storage tanks are no longer isolated containers; instead, they are integrated with air compressors, purification systems, pressure regulators, and distribution pipelines to form a small "on-site gas supply system." Storage tank manufacturers are required to provide highly customized gas storage solutions based on their customers' plant layout, gas usage processes, and gas types.

Today's German industrial gas tank manufacturers, such as Linde Engineering, Messer, WIKA and other companies, as well as many hidden medium-sized air tank factories, are not only equipment suppliers, but also technology and system partners that provide customers with clean, efficient and reliable industrial gas solutions.
